4 May at Jebel Ali Port, Terminal 1. While berthing, a CMA CGM container vessel collided with the harbour wall striking the leg of a quay crane causing it to fall. A second crane was also shifted off its rails during the incident but remained upright and stable.

Anecdotal information suggests that an adjacent crane was also damaged. We understand that no serious injuries were sustained by any shoreside personnel. In 2017 Boskalis will convert one of its semi-submersible heavy lift vessels into a self-propelled crane vessel, including a 3,000 mt revolving crane. It will be able to execute transportation as well as installation or decommissioning services. In this animation the vessel is performing the jacket installation for offshore wind farm turbines. Due to its DP-2 capabilities there is no loss time for anchor spread deployment. The vessel can accommodate 150 persons and will have a helicopter deck available for offshore transfers.
